Hey friend! Happy {belated} Thanksgiving to those who celebrate. It's been pretty low-key in the way of celebration for my family this year, but we did manage to get ourselves to the movie theater Thursday afternoon. You might assume we saw Zootopia 2, but we actually saw a totally different sequel. Wait, is Wicked 2 considered a sequel? Or just a part two? Does that mean all sequels are also part twos? Parts two? Regardless. We saw Wicked 2 and it was something. I say "something," because I didn't actually love it, but I remain enamored by all things Wicked-related. From Instagram reels of Dorothy's POV to another interview with Jonathan Bailey or Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, I'm all in on the world of Wicked. This will come as no surprise to those who know me well, given how "all in" I've been on Wizard of Oz for basically my whole life. As a kid, I was once Dorothy for Halloween. As a high school senior, I was Glinda in our school's spring musical. When my oldest daughter was six, I made her the best Tin Man costume a girl could ask for. And just a few years ago, my brother and I did a whole podcast episode deep diving all things Oz. I'm a fan, is what I'm saying. And as a fan, I have to tell you that if you're obsessed with Wicked like I'm obsessed with Wicked, you want this candle my brother is selling: Right? How fun is that?? I couldn't even wait until I had the rest of my newsletter ready to tell you! AND because this is Buy All the Gifts Weekend (and That Includes Gifts for Yourself), I have a coupon code for this AND ALL of my brother's candles. And other good-smelling products. โUse HOOKED20 for 20% off anything in The Big Gay Collective store today through Tuesday, December 2.โJust in case you're NOT as obsessed with Wicked as I am, here are a few of my other favorite candles from The Big Gay Collective:
And, of course, we can't forget my all-time favorite and the candle I'm literally burning right now: Basic Bitch Autumn. And if the name of that candle makes you clutch your pearls, just TRUST ME OKAY. Click on over and read the description and clock that gorgeous vessel that doesn't say the bad word. And then buy one for errrrrryone! There's a reason I mentioned it in a recent episode of the Hooked Podcast! All right, friend. I must get my first batch of chocolate chip pumpkin bread out of the oven (ahem, find that recipe here, YOU WILL THANK ME LATER). And I'm also getting back to your December watch guide and my reviews of the holiday movies I've watched so far. Keep an eye on your inbox for that very soon!! Love, your favorite Glinda (Ariana who?), |
Well, here we are, friend. Once again holding the horrors of * all this * while still maintaining some semblance of normalcy, as long as normalcy is defined as barely hanging on and also occasionally not hanging on at all. I did think that if I waited just one more day, then one more day again, Iโd come up with a coherent, encouraging note for you. But we are now halfway through the shortest month, and all I have to offer are some bulleted items. Perhaps, though, youโre like me and best able...
Happy New Year and first Monday of the year! Whether recent days were hard or lovely (or, most likely, a mix of both), Iโm guessing you might be ready for a fresh start the way I am. Thereโs just something about a blank slate, a new calendar, a realization that itโs now time to spend six months writing the wrong year and saying, โOh shoot! I forgot itโs 2026 now!โ I love how weโve recently decided as a society that making New Yearโs resolutions isnโt the only way to do January. For quite a...
Have I told you about the zebras? (Side note: I tried to think of a clever subject line using the story I'm about to tell you about zebras in light of the garbage heap our world is determined to be right now. But "If Life Gives You Nazis, Look for Zebras" seemed unlikely to work for you as much as it did amuse me. If I made a bad call here and you'd like to see that on stickers and tshirts, do let me know. TeePublic is one click away...) ANYWAY. Hi, hello, how are you? Okay. Story time....
